If you have been to Youtubes website lately you will have noticed a very big change in the way the website looks. Youtube announced earlier on their blog that the new design would be focusing more on bringing visibility to new channels. Youtube believes that the next MTV or CNN could emerge from these channels.

Some of the new channels that will be available can be see here. Some that caught our attention are

Numberphile

A channel about amazing facts and figures that will make you love numbers.

CrashCourse

The Vlogbrothers give weekly lessons in science and the humanities - college will never be the same again.

Reviews have been very mixed (as one would expect), with some notable publications have given 5 start rating whist others have slatted it for not living up the hype.

My review is that this new look certainly makes Youtube much easier to navigate and to use.

Users have fast access to their favourite channels and they can also quickly see what the trends are on the channels, with linking like “Popular Channels”.

There is also the addition of Google+ and Facebook, so that a user can see what their social network is watching. The “Add Channels” link allows you to search for channels that show videos that are of interest to you. You will then be able to subscribe to these channels.

There are lot on interesting features and layout concepts that will certainly be looking at to see how they also be used to enhance PHPmotion. Who knows, you may soon see a clone version of this theme being available for your PHPmotion website.
