Problems with German Umlauts (Special Characters)

Hi there!
I have translated the language file into german and I'm having Problems with the Umlauts. The page (PhpMotion) tells me it is encoded in UTF-8, so I figured I would use the ü and so on for the Umlauts.
Problem is that the Chars are shown on the page exactly as I entered them ( Überschrift) .

So I thought I could just use the regular German Chars (Ä ö <- don't know what this forum makes of it) but that just gives me a sign with a question mark. So I don't know where I went wrong.
Any Ideas?

save your lang file in utf-8 format
